A nice example of a Second pattern Tropehelm or Pith Helmet, 1942 dated and in a size 56.
Made by JHS, the helmet is in very good condition although missing the leather trim to the brim
The body of the Helmet is formed in one piece from two layers of wool felt with a felt band of the same colour at the start of the flair and with a detachable and adjustable chinstrap. At the top of the crown is a domed vent cover.
On the left side is a stamped alloy Heer eagle shield whilst the one on the right features the national colours, both in excellent condition.
Inside, the sweatband is leather with light wear around the edges, the dome lined with a single piece of compressed felt in red.
Marked to JHS and dated 1942.
