Second Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife with scabbard by Wilkinson Sword.
A good used condition second pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife manufactured by Wilkinson Sword of London.
The blued straight crossguard is in good condition with only minor wear to the finish. The once blued / blackened cast brass chequered grip is again in good condition but as can be seen in the photos the finish has mostly worn off from use.
The blade is generally still bright with some spotting and scratches from I presume extensive use. There is also some evidence of sharpening. Etched both sides with the Wilkinson Sword logo to one side and the F-S Fighting Knife legend to the other.
The sheath is an early example of the second pattern sheath, denoted by the nickel plated chape held in place by a single staple but the lack of the first pattern leather retaining strap and press fastener. All four leather tabs intended for sewing to the trouser leg are present. The elastic retaining strap is still in place although lacking much of the original elasticity.
All original stitching is tight and in place.
