A scarce original Rear Observation Mirror for the later marks of Spitfire such as the MkV.
The domed casing for the mirror itself is in brass with an opening either side to adjust friction nuts to alter the pitch angle to suit the individual. Six screws hold the glass in place. Some very light denting is evident to the casing and just visible through the camouflage paint is the maker's initials H&S the rest of the sores numbers being mostly obscured by the paint.
The stalk is in very good condition with evidence of the forward fitting screw having been drilled for removal from the aircraft. Again, there are no stores stamps.
The mirror is in very good condition with no deterioration.
