Sword Bayonet Pattern 1917 as Issued to the British Home Guard

Sword Bayonet Pattern 1917 as Issued to the British Home Guard

Code: 55787

SOLD

Used during WW1 by the US forces on the model 1917 rifle and the Enfield P14, these Sword bayonets were reissued during WW2 to the British Home Guard to be used again with both rifles.

This example is in very good condition with light surface rust to the pommel head only. The grips are without damage as is the blade which retains a good amount of the original Parkerised finish. The Ricasso is dated 1917 along with the Remington circular logo, the reverse with the U.S. stampings.

The leather scabbard is very good and retains the original green finish and the US belt fitting along with a 1939 pattern frog as used by the Home Guard. The retaining strap on the belt loop is missing, possibly removed to accommodate easy removal of the bayonet.
