An absolutely beautiful example of a Colvinex CFN24 U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics 24 volt electrically heated leather flying Suit in a size 38.
Specification number 456A, these suits entered service in the 1930s and continued in use throughout WW2 seeing service in all theatres including the North African campaign, the Pacific and the North Atlantic.
Constructed in Goatskin with a fur collar which could be worn folded flat,or turned up and held in place with a leather strap and button arrangement, the power is introduced via a lead on the right sight with an off switch, with connections at each cuff and ankles for the heated gloves and boots.
There is a flapped pocket at each thigh, a knitted cuff at each wrist and a zipped opening at the hips to give access to an under garment. Each leg is closed with a full length zip opening to the waist, a single zip closing the suit at the chest. A waistbelt allows for fine adjustment.
Inside, there is one pocket and a fixed pair of braces to support the weight of the Suit.
Condition is excellent with no damage or wear and with all Talon zips working perfectly. It would prove difficult to improve on this lovely example
