A very good example of a WW2 period WAAF’s officer’s Tunic/ Jacket, tailored in London for W.H Wakefield Esq (!), a Flying Officer in the Auxiliary Air Force.
Produced in the standard blue grey Barathea wool with a breast size of approximately 36”and a waist of approximately 31”, it follows the regulation pattern with two pleated and flapped breast pockets and two bellows and flapped lower pockets, all close by brass RAF buttons matching the four front closed buttons. There is a waistbelt and coin pocket, in which remains a cancelled dance ticket.
There a two inside and one pen pocket, the lay flat collar with the “A” insignia in brass complete with fitting posts and sprung pins.
Overall condition is very good with a single moth hole between the first and second front closure buttons and a very small moth nip on the left bellows pocket.
