Kriegsmarine Tropical Tunic

SOLD

Code: 55165

A very nice example of a Tropical Kriegsmaine Tunic in lightweight cotton drill.

A textbook example in every respect the Tunic is a 1940 pattern with laydown collar, the front closed by five buttons, the backs of which are unmarked. There are four pleated and flapped patch pockets each closed by an Assmann marked button. All buttons are held in place by ring clips and not the S clips which would have originally held them. Above the right breast pocket is a re applied Kriegsmarine eagle in golden thread.

Each sleeve has a false French cuff above which can be seen the stitch marks which once held career insignia badges. At each armpit are nine vent holes.

The shoulder boards are of the slip on type, held in place by a loop and screw post button. These reflect the rank of an Oberfeldwebel in the administrative branch.

Inside, the Tunic is part lined in white cotton which shows perspiration marks. There are two pockets and two matching cotton strips for the belt support hooks.

Overall condition is very good.
