The last and without doubt most horrific of the collection of WW1 Trench Clubs I am offering, is this example utilizing a spiked steel ball and chain attached to an oak shaft.
Possibly of German or Austrian origin, the solid steel ball has four spikes and is attached to the shaft by an eleven link chain.
The shaft is approximately 435mm in length, the lower end machined to form an effective grip. Perhaps the most disturbing aspects of the piece are what appear to be four notches looking to have been burned into the shaft with a cigarette end.
Overall condition is very good, the shaft displaying some bruising.
