Although believed to have been recovered during a Battle of Britain Spitfire dig, the history is lost to this section of the fuselage frame 11 which would have been in place directly behind the pilot’s seat.
Approximately 35 cms in length there is a U shaped channel with reinforcement plates which accommodated the rails on the canopy when slid backwards.
The section is well marked with the Spitfire 300 prefix to the part number and is free from corrosion.
