44th (E Essex) Regiment of Foot Victorian Officer's shoulder belt plate circa 1831-55.
Completely free from damage the copper gilt rectangular plate is in very good condition and mounted with gilt crowned laurel sprays with two concentric circles bearing honours with seeded gilt "44" to centre. Below the sprays, the Sphinx over "Egypt".
To the reverse are two hooks and two studs with the owner’s indecipherable name scratched into the plate.
