A 1916 dated British Army Mess Tin with Cover.

The Mess Tin is two parts and made of tin plated steel with a seam down one side and with a wire carrying handle and loops front and back for the strap. Just visible on the base is a maker’s stamp and the last two digits of the date, 16, all too faint to capture with a photograph. The folding handle is in place in the lid. Overall condition is very good with light dents around the top edge of the lid.

The cover is interesting and appears to have been made from salvaged cotton canvas. Overall condition is very good with evidence of a loop having been to the back panel, possible having been used when on the donor pack.
