WW1 Royal Engineers Galvanometer for Testing Detonator Circuits

SOLD

Code: 55645

In keeping with my previous listings is the fourth item from the Royal Engineers Tunnelling Companies collection, this being a WW1 Tunneller's Electrical Line Testing Kit, a Galvanometer, for the wiring leading to the laid explosive charges. The testing and maintenance of such electrical wiring obviously being a crucial part the mine exploding process.

The kit is quality wood and brass affair made by Gambrell Bros, and dated 1916. The Galvanometer itself is in very good condition, the case with some minor service scuffing to the exterior and a split in the front sliding door along with one side and the top panels. The interior however appears complete.

The top of the case bears a nice Government Issue arrow marking close to the carrying handle.
