Early Luftwaffe M35 Helmet with First Pattern Eagle

SOLD

Code: 55786

A particularly nice example of a Luftwaffe M35 Helmet with first pattern eagle.

An ET62 with a lot number of 3795, the shell retains virtually all of the original factory blue / grey finish without any signs of damage.

The eagle is perhaps 85% intact with very slight rubbing evident. On the right side the tricolour has been overpainted with a near perfect matching blue /grey paint which appears to have been sprayed on rather than hand painted, the decal masked to prevent overspray. The decal is clearly visible under the paint with the colours showing though in places.

Inside, the liner band is reenforced aluminium with a 1938 date just visible, the leather tongues showing only light use. They remain supple and are complete with the drawstring. The name Schmidt 1V is written in ink.

Finally, the chinstrap is very good but has been shortened slightly.
