Luftwaffe Hauptmann's Service Dress Tunic. Flying Branch

SOLD

Code: 55994

A fine example of the 1935 pattern Luftwaffe Officer’s Service Dress Tunic (Touchrock) to a Hauptmann’s in the flying branch.

Constructed in a high quality Trikot wool the Tunic is in excellent condition, free from moth or other damage.

Roughly a 38” chest size there are four patch pockets, each with pleats and flaps closed by a single silver grey pebbled button. The front of the Tunic is closed by four matching buttons which appear to be by Assmann, the top buttonhole with a ribbon for the Iron Cross second class.

Above the right breast pocket is the second pattern eagle and Swastika hand embroidered in silver wire whilst the left breast pocket has loops for one award.

The upper elements of the lay flat collar are trimmed with a silver twisted cord bordering the rhomboid collar tabs of a Hauptmann in the flying branch.

At each shoulder are shoulder boards appropriate to the rank, the slight colour mis match to the ranks pips clearly demonstrating a promotion from Oberleutnant.

Inside, the lining is a matching blue grey silk or rayon. There are two inside pockets, a coat hook and a dagger hanging strap with an opening underneath the left pocket flap.

A beautiful Tunic and one that would prove difficult to upgrade.
